Offered is a very nice example of a desirable and scarce form in American silver, a pair of twist-arm sugar tongs. This particular pair is un-decorated save for a period engraved script initial "B" monogram; the overall feel is of a small-town or country piece, perhaps from rural Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio or Kentucky. The grips are a rudimentary acorn form. This piece measures about 5 1/2 inches in length and weighs about 30 grams. Condition is fair overall, in that there is are two stresses in the bow, the larger of which is the result of the monogram engraving being a bit too deep. Interestingly, neither stress is visible from the outside (see pics). This is nonetheless an attractive piece. All in all a good example of this form!
