Offered is a good pair of decorated early American coin silver sugar tongs by the partnership of James Ward, Roswell Bartholomew and a man named Trott (perhaps John Proctor Trott), working in Hartford, Connecticut circa 1802-03. The maker's mark of this firm is WB&T in a rectangular punch. The maker's mark on this piece is clearly struck (see pics), and the engraved decoration is well preserved. There is no monogram or sign of erasure in the oval reserve to the bowl. This piece measures about 6 3/8 inches in length and weighs about 30 grams. Condition is very good overall, with no dents, splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of the handiwork of this short-lived partnership of early 19th Century Connecticut silversmiths!
