Offered is a very good American coin silver tablespoon by little-known silversmith or jeweler George Jacob, recorded in Baltimore between about 1802 and 1846. By style, this spoon should date to between 1825 and 1846, most likely in the 1820s or 1830s. This piece has a very good clear maker's mark and a fineness mark of 10:15. It also has a nicely engraved period script monogram of McJ. This spoon measures about 8 1/2 inches in length and weighs about 47 grams. Condition is fairly good overall, with some dimpling and dings to the bowl but no splits or repairs. Please see all pictures. All in all a nice example of this Baltimore silversmith's wares!
