Coin Silver Teaspoon Marked L.BROWN - Cazenovia or Rochester, NY?
$19.50
Offered is an American coin silver teaspoon marked L.BROWN in a rectangular punch, which may be for Lester Brown of Cazenovia, NY, or the L. Brown of Rochester, NY who might also be Lester Brown. The dates listed for these names are in the late 1830s or 1840s, consistent with the style of this spoon. This piece measures about 6 1/4 inches in length and weighs about 19 grams. In addition to a well-struck maker's mark, this has a period engraved script monogram. Condition is fairly good overall, though the strike of the maker's mark caused a small fissure next to the punch that does not endanger the spoon. There are also a few other dings but no repairs. All in all a nice example of this mark!
