Hagerstown Coin Silver Teaspoon by Arthur Johnston, Circa 1810-20
$15.00
Offered is a very beat up American coin silver spoon by noted Hagerstown, Maryland silversmith and clockmaker Arthur Johnston, featuring one of at least three marks attributed to him. This spoon has a very clear maker's mark and also features a period engraves script monogram of "MC". This spoon measures about 5 5/8 inches in length, and weighs about 13 grams. Condition is quite poor, with a lot of dings and tooth marks, as well as some bending to the handle. There are no splits or repairs. All in all a good example of one of the earlier marks of an important MD silversmith!
