Pair of George III Sterling Silver Sauce Ladles by Thomas Barker, 1813
SOLD
Offered is a fine pair of Georgian sterling silver sauce or gravy ladles by noted London silversmith Thomas Barker (registered 1805, as a spoon maker; he added a mark with a pellet in 1811). It is difficult to find serving pieces like this in pairs. These sauce ladles each have clear maker's marks and London hallmarks for 1813, and each is engraved with a good period fluted script monogram of "JMH". These ladles measure about 6 3/4 inches in length, and the pair weighs about 120 grams altogether - the current scrap value of these is about $81 dollars, but they are far too nice to scrap! Condition overall is very good, with a few tiny shallow dings in the bowls and light wear from normal use, but no splits or repairs. All in all a beautiful and useful pair of Georgian silver servers!
