Cliff Nunn - Antique Silver and Decorative Arts
Very Rare Maine Coin Silver Spoon Ca. 1805-15 by Daniel Poore
SOLD
Offered is a quite rare example of the work of little-known Portland, Maine silversmith Daniel Poore (1767-1840), who was born in Newburyport, MA but was working in Maine by 1795. This piece is very nicely decorated and engraved with period script initials "BT"; it is a transitional form between the coffin-end and fiddle patterns. This spoon measures about 5 3/4 inches in length and weighs 11 grams. Condition is very good to excellent overall, with minor wear but no dents, splits or repairs. All in all a fine example of the work of a rare maker!
