SOLD

Offered is an excellent early American coin silver teaspoon by noted Long Island and New York City silversmith Joel Sayre (1778-1818), who was working in Southampton from 1798-1801 and in NYC from 1802-1811. This piece is beautifully engraved along the handle, and features period script initials of "CK". Joel Sayre's maker's mark is legibly struck to the reverse. This piece measures about 5 1/4 inches in length and weighs about 10 grams. Condition is very good overall, with minor wear from normal use, but no dents, splits or repairs. All in all an excellent example of the coffin-end form!
