An exquisite little demitasse cup and saucer made in Occupied Japan, between 1945-1952. It is decorated with hand painted bamboo leaves and stalks, with gold paint around the rim and handle of the cup, also around the lip of the saucer, as well as defining the bamboo itself. On the bottoms of both cup and saucer are the logos: a wreath surrounding the letter 'D', 'Hand Painted' above the wreath, and 'Made In Occupied Japan' below it. Two elegant demitasse Independence Ironstone Castleton pattern china cups and saucers-
white octagon shaped with scallop design around the circular depression in the center of the saucer. They are in wonderful condition and are a perfect addition for the after dinner coffee with that someone special.
The cups are: 2 3/4" (7.0cm) across lip, 2 5/8" (6.7cm) tall, and 1 1/2" (3.8cm) around the base. The saucers are 4 1/2" (11.4cm)in diameter. Each weighs 5.4oz (150g). ...click for details
