Description:
A stunning Starburst Rhinestone brooch. This piece is nearly breathtaking. There
are 40 - 1/8" (0.3cm) diameter stones supporting a gorgeous 1" (2.5cm) long 11/16"
(1.3cm) wide pear shaped faceted topaz or sun colored stone (I believe it to be sun).
Around that are 24 radii, 15 rigid rays surround the top, and 9 flexible rays suspend below. The rays vary in length but each ends with a 3/8" (0.8cm) inverted tear drop. With nearly 150 Rhinestones in all this piece simply dazzles! All the prong-set stones are shiny and intact. One ray on the top is not as rigid as the rest, but it does not take anything away from this piece. I don't know the exact age of the pin (it can be used as necklace, it has a ring on the back), since I can remember my grandmother wearing this during special occasions during the 60's, and from what I've been able to glean, it has to be from sometime in the 30's to 40's. The pendant/brooch is 4 1/4" (10.7cm)tall, 3 1/2" (8.8cm) wide, 3/8" (1.0cm) thick, and weighs 1.9oz (52gr).
