Hummel No.166 Boy with Bird Ashtray. The large stylized bee was used primarily from 1960 through 1963. The color of the mark is either black or blue. It is sometimes found inside an incised circle. When you find the large stylized bee mark, normally you will find a stamped "West" or "Western Germany" in black elsewhere on the base, but not always. There is a small 1/8" (.05cm) chip on inside of tray diagonally away from the boy. The lip where the boy is laying was apparently broken off and has been glued back on. The crack and glue is visible from the bottom, but you can only see a small part of it below the feet and to the right of the logo from the top. The boy did not fall off the lip. All features of the boy and bird are intact. Logo: blue bee with the 'V' black 'WESTERN GERMANY' black fancy small 'R' (maybe artist?) blank hand written # '76-25' 166 is in the mold 6 1/4" (15.8cm) diameter 3 1/4" (8.4cm) tall to hat weight 10.2oz (289g) This pieces is discounted 25% due to the slight imperfections.
