Alpha Gamma Delta Iroquois China coffee cups
$70.00 for 2 cups & 1 saucer
Two Alpha Gamma Delta coffee cups and one saucer, Iroquois China Syracuse 9 N.Y. The black cups are highlighted with the white base and gold lip, ear and coat of arms. They are 2 different cups, but both have the Alpha Gamma Delta coat of arms in gold paint on them as well as the saucer. One cup's ear is bigger than the other one. The cups look marvelous, no crazing, the finish is glossy bright, there are some very small spots inside of one cup that probably have been there from day one. There is a small mark/scratch at the 1 o'clock position of the saucer. These cups were used, as well they should have been. They just feel good in your hands.
The big eared cup is 2 1/4" (5.7cm) tall, 3 11/16" (9.4cm) diameter, the ear is 1/2" (1.4cm) wide, it's weight is 5.6oz (160g) & 5.9oz (167g). The little eared cup is 2 1/8" (5.5cm) tall, 3 1/2" (9.1cm) diameter, the ear is 5/16" (0.9cm) wide, it's weight is 6.5oz (184g). The saucer is 7/8" (2.3cm) tall, 5 7/16" (13.9cm) diameter, and it's weight is 5.0oz (144g). The Iroquois China logo: Iroquois China Syracuse 9 N.Y. as well as the date code are on the bottom of each cup; big-eared is: O-3 - March (3rd quarter) 1929, and little-eared is: P-1 - January (1st quarter) 1930. There is no marks on the saucer other than the Alpha Gamma Delta coat of arms. These cups are siblings to the Lambda Chi Alpha cups and saucer (item #0046) that are also offered on our site. We decided to list them apart since they are similar yet different, we're sure there must be a real good story behind this.. but. We would love to sell them as a complete set: four cups and two saucers. It just seems it would be a shame to separate them now after they have been together for so long.
