Please note that each bird is slightly different in form, and that only one bears Adler's mark. However, we do believe them to be of a pair.

Those of us who had a chance to visit the "Silver and Shawls: India, Europe, and the Colonial Art Market" at Harvard's Sackler Museum are no doubt all steamed up about anglo-Indian silver, and want a little example for our collection. Stop here. This is a great one. Length just shy of 5 inches; width 1 1/8; decagonal in section; nearly flawless condition (lid over stoppered end does not hold tightly-- see third photo). Unmarked; no monogram.

New York circa 1825, length 12 1/2 inches, weight 4.52 Troy ounces, monogrammed "M" in period script with flourishes. There is a slight abrasion above the initial, and some very minor scratches in bowl as shown in enlargements three and four but the overall condition is outstanding.

Maltby Pelletreau was the second generation of this illustrious silversmithing family. His partnership with Bennett and Cook lasted only three years, so the date range for this item is pleasantly narrow...

set of six in original felt lined box, .800 standard, maker Fabbrica Argenteria Fiorentina circa 1935, total weight 3.86 oz. Troy, excellent condition, no monogram. These are well modelled and well executed. Each putto is full figural front and back. Though the little folks are cast from the same mold, each is carrying a different dish: soup, fish, fowl, eggplant, grapes, salad, and of course wine. An altogether charming way to guide your guests at table.

length 12 5/8 inches, weight 8.69 Troy ounces, monogrammed "L" (script, obverse), some light wear and minor scratches in bowl but fine overall condition and truly a grand old piece of Tiffany flatware which unlike others of its kind (see a similar but scrawnier example on the bay of eeehs, item 221269578302) won't make quite such a big dent in your bank account...

length 7 5/8 inches, monogrammed "F.E. Dean", maker J.B. & Co (possibly Jones Ball & Co, Boston circa 1850). Most of the handles have the usual pinprick dents which one might expect in knives from this period; two have some larger dings which we've shown in photo number five. The blades are in fine condition.

Philadelphia circa 1790, with round downturned end and rounded drop, length 14 1/4 inches, weight 6.0 Troy ounces, monogrammed "RRC" (period script, obverse), with a scratch below these initials as shown and a few minor nicks in bowl but very good overall condition.

In an attempt to distinguish this ladle from its peers, we'll mention that the bowl has a slight boat shape when viewed head on, as you may see in photo number four.

large (9 3/4"), heavy (6.26 oz. Troy) and in immaculate condition, these tongs don't appear to have suffered much use during the last ninety some-odd years. Bought new, they'd probably set you back almost as much as a small Mercedes, if indeed ONC still makes this piece.

length seven inches. No monogram, heavy (11.0 oz. Troy the set), generously proportioned and in fine condition with only slight wear to the high points. Given Yours Truly's horrible proclivities toward fussiness, we do have one complaint: they're a bit over-polished and much oxidation has been removed from the low areas. Time, however, will cure this sin...

with high relief cast bust of Van Dyck, length 9 inches, weight 3.24 Troy ounces, no monogram. Truly one of Antoine Heller's greatest designs, and among Gorham's most sculptural patterns.

There is a file cut (visible from side and reverse only; see fourth photo) which we've pictured in excruciating detail, and some light pitting on the blade which we've mostly polished out and probably will address a bit more, as time allows. Aside from this, the condition is excellent.
