P.O.R.

circa 1900, length 10.6, height 7.5 centimeters, mass 162.7 grams, .950 standard. If you're a Brit, that's 4 inches long; 3 1/4 inches high; 5.23 Troy ounces. We're not going to prattle on about how rare it is or how good it is (to borrow a phrase, "We hold these truths to be self evident...") but rest assured that it's both. This particular swan has been nesting in our vault for twenty some-odd years, waiting for the Sprogs to enroll in college, and now it' ...click for details

Here by overwhelming popular demand is another item in our "save me from the smelter" series. This one weighs 5.26 Troy ounces and stands a proud 6.5 inches tall. There's a decent chance that you could wipe out all evidence of the two lovebirds and still have something thicker than aluminum foil, depending on your silversmith's skill at such a task...

height 2 1/2; top diameter 3 1/8 inches, weight 4.03 oz. Troy, engraved with a tomato (?), foliage, and TJ. As legend would have it, Jefferson designed the originals himself and commissioned silversmith John Letelier to make them. Ours has a very minor dent where side meets base which we've attempted to show in photo number two. Aside from that, the condition is fine.

Let's offer up an apology to Messrs Hammerstein and Kern, then start off with all the things they aren't: heavy (weight is 3.8 oz. Troy each), perfect (see third photo), finest quality, or antique. So they are? Cheap, rather elegant looking, and guaranteed to hold whatever liquid you might choose to imbibe. Height 3 7/8 inches.

height 14 inches, diameter across handles 10 inches, diameter of base 5 3/8 inches, weight 55 oz. Troy. With repoussé chased decoration surrounding each cartouche, cast three dimensional hanging grape clusters on each handle, and applied grape leaves at the joins, one might call it "grapes three ways". There has been a monogram removed from both panels (please see fifth photo), but the silver is of such heavy gauge that it has no give whatsoever even when a substantial amount of pre ...click for details

order numbers 170 (datemark for 1900) and S2902 (datemark obscured), height 3 3/4 inches, weight 4.42 oz. Troy, no monogram, a few very minor dents here and there but excellent overall condition. Why were these made in different years? We have no idea, but since both are special orders and should show up in the records, a curious customer could email the Grand Pooh Bah of Gorham silver and obtain (for a fee) the costing report.

hand wrought by George Erickson of Gardner Massachusetts, top diameter 8 1/2, height 3 3/8 inches (the perfect size for feeding your Great Dane, see fourth photo), weight 19+ oz. Troy, excellent condition, engraved "Best in Show / North Shore Kennel Club / August 23, 1947 / Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Dresser". It is interesting to note that although our price reflects no premium over the silver value, such an item would cost well over a thousand dollars if commissioned from a silversmith...

ON HOLD

My heart skipped a beat on first viewing these-- I thought for sure that they were antique. In fact, they're cast in sections and then seamed (see third photo) in exactly the same way which it would have been done in 1740, but this pair dates from 1925 or so. Height 8 3/4 inches, weight 30 oz. Troy the pair, excellent condition, no monogram, .800 standard. A truly elegant set of sticks, fluted to catch the light from your candles and reflect it back evenly in all directions. Please pardon t ...click for details
