maker Thomas Harper; London 1810, in the form of Mercury with caduceus atop a cloud, height 3 3/4, width 2 1/4 inches, some evidence that a clasp may have been removed (see third photo) but excellent overall condition. Harper, himself a Mason of considerable rank and importance, was also an artisan famed for the design and execution of Masonic jewels. 1840, engine turned lid and base with applied cast and chased border, 3 by 1 5/8 by .75 inches, gilt interior, well constructed and heavy (3.17 oz. Troy). There has been a monogram removed from the rectangular cartouche, but it requires a trained eye to detect this.
