Frederick Marquand FIDDLE THREAD part set circa 1832

one tablespoon length 8 3/4, two dessert spoons 6 7/8, one gravy ladle 7 3/8, and one very impressive basting spoon length 13 1/4 inches, weight 7.16 Troy ounces! There are a few minor scratches in the bowl of this last item. All pieces are pleasantly heavy. The tablespoon is inscribed "Elizabeth M Carty / Born February 19th 1781 / Died Feb'y 13th 1832". Elizabeth McCarty (nee Van Bergen) was married to Richard McCarty, Congressman from Coxsackie, NY and prominent merchant. The tablespoon bears the full set of marks which we normally associate with Marquand, Savannah (see third photo). All other pieces pieces bear the monarch - lion passant - D as shown in photo number four. The other pieces shown in photo but not listed in description have been sold.
