Rare historical Metlox Poppytrail commemorative souvenir ashtray. In raised letters is, "City of Paris San Francisco 1850-1940". The City of Paris Dry Goods Company (later City of Paris) was one of San Francisco's most important department stores from 1850 to 1976. A Rare colossal cup and saucer by Vernon Kilns (Vernonware) in the "Homespun" plaid pattern. A 1953 Vernon price list stated that this was ideal as a collector's item, or for display, salad, punch, fruit, popcorn, planting, and flower arranging. This item was also shown in a Vernon company brochure as an ice bucket. In November 1953, p.143 of Family Circle an article gives a recipe for Turkey Soup Supper in a Vernon Kilns Colossal Cup. The article bills the Colossal Cup as a "Teacup Tureen"...
