Antique framed Chicago published sheet music.
Music publishing in Chicago is divided into two periods-before and after the fire of October, 1871.
Not only were the stocks of music and instruments destroyed by the flames, but also the records and correspondence of the firms and the registers and documents of the city, leaving only the copyright records of the Northern District of Illinois as an official record of the music publications.
The title of this music is "The Seven Star Waltz" and I believe is taken from the Greek Mythology story "Pleiades".
The women on the cover depict the 7 daughters of the gods Atlas and Pleione.
Behind the cover is the sheet music which had been cut to fit the frame so some of the notes are missing..
This sheet music was Entered according to the Act of Congress in the year 1862 by H.M. Higgins in the Clerks office of the District Court of the Northern District.
The plaster framed is 14" in diameter with its original glass.
