Persian painting depicting Sri Nath-Ji, a youth form of Krishna
worshipped in the town of Nathdwara, Rajasthan, India circa 1830-1840.
It is an opaque watercolor and gold on paper.
The image is approx 9" x 5 1/2". The measurement including the red border is 7 1/2' X 10 1/2".
Sri Nathji has incredible detail.
I was told the script at the top of the painting is Nagari.
The left side and the top of the painting are obscured by a dark black or dark blue pigment with some areas of paper showing through as well.
The rest of the painting has some fading, white blotches, flaking and areas where you can see the paper.
