Rose Crest is was produced by Fenton from 1944 to 1947. It was originally made as an exclusive for Weil Freeman Company in 1944, but when they didn't renew the contract, Fenton added it to their regular line and continued production until 1947. During the late 1930's, the trend in dinnerware was moving away from the pinks and greens of Depression glass and toward the colors of Fiesta, Harlequin and Luray pastels. In order to compete, Hazel Atlas started producing glass with fired on colors to compliment these dinnerware lines. All of the shakers pictured have a "Platonite" finish - ceramic color baked over white glass. It will not come off (unless you use sand paper) and is a permanent part of the glass...

The El Mexicano pattern was designed to look like old, crudely made Mexican Glass. Made by Morgantown Glass in the early 1930's, the molds were later reworked for their crinkle line.
