The Florentine pattern was produced by Hazel Atlas Glass Company from 1932 to 1935. It was made with scalloped edges or straight edges. Although Hazel Atlas didn't distinguish one from the other, collectors today call the scalloped edge 'Florentine 1' and the straight edge style 'Florentine 2'. During the late 1930's, the trend in dinnerware was moving away from the pinks and greens of Depression glass and toward the colors of Fiesta, Harlequin and Luray pastels. In order to compete, Hazel Atlas started producing glass with fired on colors to compliment these dinnerware lines.
