During the late 1930's, the trend in dinnerware was moving away from the pinks and greens of Depression glass and toward the colors of Fiesta, Harlequin and Luray pastels. In order to compete, Hazel Atlas started producing glass with fired on colors to compliment these dinnerware lines. All of the shakers pictured have a "Platonite" finish - ceramic color baked over white glass. It will not come off (unless you use sand paper) and is a permanent part of the glass...

This cocktail mixer was produced by Hazel Atlas Glass Company during the 1940's - 50's, though the decoration was probably done by Gay Fads Company. It's part of the Melody series set, with music on one side and a picture on the other. The cocktail mixer has an interesting twist: the songs are pictured, but instead of music, there is a drink recipe written on the staff paper. See my other listings for matching mugs and heavy bottom shot glasses to complete your set.
