Handpainted porcelain box with gilding, brass mounts. Painting on lid is of a ship sailing near a monument; front painting is of roses and leaves. Gilded leaves on inside. Marked on the base, blue overglaze with a mark that resembles Sevres, although we do not believe it to be Sevres. Still, it is a lovely handpainted box, measuring 3-3/8" x 2" x 1-1/2" tall. Lovely old porcelain, ceramic Casket, Hinged Box with gold colored brass? gold-plated? Mounts. The handpainted, monochrome scene on the lid is a park-like setting with a couple in 19th century dress, sitting on a large log. The woman holds a basket of flowers, while the gentleman plays a mandolin. 4" x 3-1/2" x 1-1/2" tall.
