Exquisitely and intricately handpainted eggshell porcelain cup and saucer, signed on the base of each piece by the artist, in red. Two differing scenes of two wmen and a child, with lots of gold in the scenes and around the tiny patterns of the foliate rims of both pieces. Superbly painted with a very tiny brush. 4-1/4" diameter saucer, 2" tall, 2-1/4" diameter cup. Age unknown. Both pieces in excellent undamaged condition. ...click for details

Japanese Eggshell Porcelain Demitasse Cup (no saucer), exquisitely painted in Kutani, and signed on the base in gold with black background. The wisteria and birds are so delicately painted, along with the tiny trim around the rim (rim is black with gold). This pattern is often associated with some of Japan's most famous artists of early-to-mid 20th Century. It is a very special little cup, measuring 2" tall, 2" diameter rim.
