Retro Biomorphic Bowl, Ashtray from the 1940s, 1950s, impressed signature on back, "Cal Orig," and "373 - USA." Turquoise speckled ground with gilded edges and gilding around the dramatic cigarette rest string. We've counted the rests, and there could actually have been 18 cigarettes being held around this amazing piece of art pottery! Big party, right! 11-1/2" x 8-1/4" x 3-1/4" tallest. About 9-1/2" x 7-1/2". Some paint loss (water background), and one large chip, apparently re-glued, at the top underside of the ashtray, see photo. Wonderful kidney-shaped retro bowl incised by hand on the base, "Brush, 015, S.A." We assume this is Brush-McCoy, and dates to the 1940s, although we ask buyer to make judgment as to maker, as we are uncertain. Rests on three self-feet. Excellent, undamaged condition, although there is a tiny three-pronged firing flaw on the front side which may be seen in the photo. $12 US Shipping.
