There's an inscription engraved on the front, and if you don't clean it, it will probably never be noticed. It reads, "Best Wishes, Van Buren Staff, 1982." This is a great old (1982 we assume) Solid Brass Teacher's Desk Bell -- what fun for the Teacher of any age students. It needs the clapper weight; the wire for attaching is intact -- an old fishing weight would probably work fine. Huge at 12" tall, and 4-1/2" diameter. Oxidized condition as shown.
