This General Order No. 201, dated France, Nov.10,1918 by Command of General Pershing,
Robert C. Davis Adjudant General, James W. McAndrew "To the soldiers and officers of the First Division of the AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES on its advance west of the Meuse between October 4th and 11th 1918.
Division gained 7 Kilometers....
The Division met resistance from elements of eight hostile divisions which were first class troops and chose to defend its position to the death...
In addition to many eney killed the division captured one thousand four hundred and 13 mm field artillery and numerous machine guns and stores...
Success of the division enabled the neighboring divisions to advance in the northeastern portion of the Forest of Argonne..."
