GEOFF SEARLE is a Canadian Master Potter, born and raised In Kimberly, British Colombia. He attended the Kootenay School of Art in Nelson, B. C. and has been working as a potter since 1972, producing stoneware, porcelain, raku and pit-fired pieces. His exquisite softly lustrous raku vases have an architectural harmony and balance that is almost as intriguing as the man himself. His highly prized pieces are sought after collectors worldwide and one of them was given to the Empress of Japan as an official gift from the government of Canada.

Each vase requires a delicate, labour-intensive process. The polish on each vase is obtained by first burnishing the clay with the back of a silver spoon, then polishing it again twice more as the clay dries. The vase is then pit-fired at a very high temperature.
The rich hues and ethereal patterns are created by using a variety of organic material and metallic salts that leave their unique and unpredictable imprint during the second firing. What makes each piece so striking and gives it its elegant Oriental character is also the addition of a beautifully sculpted black lid that includes a delicately carved strips of bamboo.
No two vases are ever alike and each piece is a beautiful masterpiece that is a pleasure to look at and enjoy. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
