This large size boot pistol with walnut grips doesn't have any markings, but from the style appears to be USA made. The under-hammer percussion pistols were popular because the triggers didn't get caught when withdrawing them from their hiding place in a gentleman's boot. Because of it's size and the thickness of the barrel this particular pistol may have been used in law enforcement. Aside from being able to shoot, it would have been a formidable weapon when used as a club. The barrel is about 8 3/4 inches long, 7/8 inches across, about 36 ca. Overall length 13 3/8 inches, the bore is good. the pistol weighs 29.15 ounces and is in good working order.
I always recommend checking with a qualified gunsmith before firing any antique firearm.
Because this gun is an antique it does not have to be registered in Canada or the USA.
