2 scimitar shaped coin silver butter knives, each with engine turned engraving on the blades, ca. 1850-1870. But the engraving is different on each blade. Unmarked except for the word "COIN" incuse. An unidentified pattern. One engraved ""S.E.H." and the other unegraved. A great pair for fashionable entertaining. Could be used for cheese, etc. as well as butter.

Four coin silver dinner forks, 7 $ 5/8 inches long, in a spatulate pattern generally known as Antique or French Antique. Tines have minimal wear for the period. Engraved with a Gothic "D" on the front of the handle end. Marked "A. SKINNER" & "PURE COIN" incuse on the middle oif the handle on the reverse. Location of A. Skinner unknown. Circa 1850-70.

5 coin silver teaspoons in the "Leaf" pattern. Probably NYC. Mid 19th Century. Marked "C. G. Barnes" incuse on the reverse. Unknown retailer and location. Engraved "KAB" in cursive script on the front. Bowls - 2 excellent, 2 good, 1 fair due to denting.

6 Coin Silver Teaspoons, Baltimore, Maryland, marked "P. B. SADTLER & SONS" incuse on the reverse. Ca. 1856/7-71. See Belden, p. 370. 4 bowls in excellent condition, one good, and one fair due to denting. Engraved "HCH" on the front of the handles in cursive script. Pattern looks like the "Wadefield" pattern of Samuel Kirk & Son depicted in Turner, American Silver Flatware 1837-1910, p. 102.

6 coin silver teaspoons by D. Hotchkiss, who worked in Palmyra, NY c. 1840 and Syracuse, NY c. 1847-49. He later became a partner in Hotchkiss & Schreuder, which firm lasted into the late 18th Century. Fiddle handle, engraved on the front "MB" in scirpt. Hallmark "D. HOTCHKISS." in rectangle on reverse of stem. Bowls in very good condition with slight turning in at the points detectable with a fingernail run across them. On bowl has two small dings. But all in all a very nice set.

6 American Coin Silver Teaspoons, 5 and 3/4 inches long, by T. B. Leavenworth, Detroit, Michigan. Rainwater and Redfield put him in Detroit in 1869, but these spoons are of a type commonly made from 1850-60 and McGrew agrees they are in that style. Perhaps old stock from New York was unloaded in the West later or perhaps they were made earlier than 1869. Marked with the Detroit Eight-Point Star, T B LEAVENWORTH and COIN incuse...

6 Sterling Dinner Forks, American, in the Tipped/Tipt pattern. Reverse of the end of the handle is slightly concave. C. 1870-1900. Marked with only "925" "STERLING" "1000" on the reverse. Engraved "M.B.M." on the front of the handle in script. Tines slightly worn. One handle slightly out of exact shape, barely noticeable.

Coin silver crumber by Samuel T. Crosby of Boston, Mass. c. 1849-50 in the Fiddle Thread pattern. Engraved "ARM" in Old English on the handle. Baroque etching on the blade with no monogram in the cartouche. Excellent condition with one questionable ding toward the end of the blade that does not show on the back and is barely discernable.

Claw end coin silver sugar tongs by A. Stowell, probably Avery W. Stowell of Syracuse, NY, working c. 1842-44. Marked "A. Stowell & Co" incuse and "COIN." incuse. Nice bright cut engraving. Mono "D" in Gothic at curve of handle. These are smaller tongs, only 5 inches long.

Five fiddle handle coin silver teaspoons by Andrew E. Warner, Baltimore, Maryland, (1810-1870) probably c. 1840-1860. Marked "A.E.WARNER" in serrated rectangle and 10.15 in rectangle [the 15 is elevated above the 10 and is underlined; this was a Baltimore mark that mean .896 silver and was used from c. 1840-1860]. Bowls are in excellent condition with a very little tip wear. Engraved "EAL" in script on the front handle. A very nice set of early teaspoons.

Magnificent coin silver soup ladle in the "Bead" pattern, probably manufactured by John Pohlamus, retailed by Ball Black & co. c. 1851-76. I would date this from 1851-1860, certainly not after 1970. Engraved "C.A.W." in gothic on the reverse of the handle end. Marked "BALL BLACK & CO" incuse on back in middle of handle.

Coin silver gravy ladle in the "Bead" pattern, 6 inches long, probably made by John Pohlemus of NYC and sold by Crosby, Hunnewell & Morse, 1861/2 - 1863, Boston, Massachusetts. Engraved "EM" on the reverse in Gothic. Marked "CROSBY, HUNNEWELL & MORSE" and "PURE COIN" incuse on the reverse of the handle. Excellent condition.
