Plain Tipped/Tipt pattern, unmarked coin silver dessert fork, 7" long, marked "COIN" incuse on the reverse and engraved "C" in Gothic on the front of the handle. Tines are perfect.

Four coin silver dinner forks, 7 $ 5/8 inches long, in a spatulate pattern generally known as Antique or French Antique. Tines have minimal wear for the period. Engraved with a Gothic "D" on the front of the handle end. Marked "A. SKINNER" & "PURE COIN" incuse on the middle oif the handle on the reverse. Location of A. Skinner unknown. Circa 1850-70.

A pair of William Gale & Son Sterling Silver Dessert Forks, 7 and !/8 inches long, in a pattern I have not been able to identify but one that might be called "Tipt Bead." Tines somewhat worn. Engraved "M.J.S." in Gothic on the front. Marked with a "2" [probably a journeyman's or quality mark], "W GALE & SON" & "925 STERLING" on the middle of the reverse of the handle. Circa 1850-1859 [see Rainwater U Redfield, 4th Ed. at p. 118. Some of the photos are poor in color...

Magnificent coin silver soup ladle in the "Bead" pattern, probably manufactured by John Pohlamus, retailed by Ball Black & co. c. 1851-76. I would date this from 1851-1860, certainly not after 1970. Engraved "C.A.W." in gothic on the reverse of the handle end. Marked "BALL BLACK & CO" incuse on back in middle of handle.

Heavy coin silver soup ladle in the Fiddle Thread pattern, 13 inches long. No engraving. Marked PLATT BRO" in rectangle. Working 1828-1859 in NYC. A very fine ladle.

6 coin silver teaspoons by D. Hotchkiss, who worked in Palmyra, NY c. 1840 and Syracuse, NY c. 1847-49. He later became a partner in Hotchkiss & Schreuder, which firm lasted into the late 18th Century. Fiddle handle, engraved on the front "MB" in scirpt. Hallmark "D. HOTCHKISS." in rectangle on reverse of stem. Bowls in very good condition with slight turning in at the points detectable with a fingernail run across them. On bowl has two small dings. But all in all a very nice set.

A pair of coin silver teaspoons with the mark of J. Ambrose Merrill of Portland, Maine, C. 1860. Merrill was probably the retailer. Rounded tipt handles. Engraved "H.A.F." on the back of the handle. Mark is ""J. A. MERRILL" incuse.

5 coin silver teaspoons sold by Lowell & Senter, watchmakers and jewelers of Portland, Maine. The firm existed from about 1830 to 1870. These appear to be from the 1840-1850 period. Double-swell fiddle handle (Scotch fiddle). Engraved "SRH" on the front of the handle. Bowls in very good condition although the very ends are begninning to turn adn their are very small dings in some of them. Hallmarked "LOWELL & SENTER" in a rectangle.

Seven Sterling teaspoons in the Ivy pattern by Henry Hibbard. Whiting Manufacturing Co. began producing them in 1874. Marked "Pat 1866" incuse, "STERLING" incuse, and "H. RICHARDSON & CO" incuse (retailer, loc. unk.). Engraved on the front with a Gothic "R."

Four coin silver teaspoons in the "Tuscan" pattern by William Gale of Gale and Hayden, NYC c. 1846-1850 and sold by J. F. Jones of Syracuse c. 1850. Marked "J. F. Jones" incuse and "PATENT 1846" in rectangle on reverse. Engraved "Ella A." in script on the front and "Bank---" on the reverse. Bowls are in good condition but running your fingernail over them reveals the beginning of the silver turning back, something that is bearly noticeable just by looking. A nice set.

Five fiddle handle coin silver teaspoons by Andrew E. Warner, Baltimore, Maryland, (1810-1870) probably c. 1840-1860. Marked "A.E.WARNER" in serrated rectangle and 10.15 in rectangle [the 15 is elevated above the 10 and is underlined; this was a Baltimore mark that mean .896 silver and was used from c. 1840-1860]. Bowls are in excellent condition with a very little tip wear. Engraved "EAL" in script on the front handle. A very nice set of early teaspoons.

3 coin silver tablespoons/serving spoons by Willard & Hawley of Syracuse, NY, 1852. 8 3/8 inches long. Handle is oval fiddle tipt upturned. In excellent condition except for slight turning in of the very tip of the points of the bowls from use, which only shows upon very close inspection. Engraved "F.L.H." in script on the front of the handle. Marked "WILLARD & HAWLEY" in serrated rectangle, "1852" in connected ovals, and "PREMIUM" in serrated rectangle.
