FRANCIS FRITH Street Scene Photo, Oxford, England, c. 1890s, REAL PHOTO POSTCARD, Postally Unused, F. FRITH & CO.OXFORD, ENGLAND, HIGH STREET, Circa 1890s. This is a real photo postcard of High Street in Oxford, from Francis Frith (Frith's series). It's printed on what appears to be actual shiny photo paper. The details are stunning - the street scene features many pedestrians, horses and buggies, a double-decked streetcar, but no automobiles. The depth and contrast on this card is better than other views of this street that I've seen, even other Frith postcards - some that I've seen tend to be shadowy, and lack detail, especially alongside the darker building on the left side of the street. The detail on this photo is fantastic - take a close look! I believe it to date to the 1890s-1900. It is in excellent condition, with just the lightest wear along edge and corners (see scan). Price includes shipping within the continental U.S. International shipping is available - please inquire.
