Marked BARNEY&VALENTINE, a Syracuse, NY retailer. Joseph Seymour, the maker, also of Syracuse, is identified by 3 pseudo-hallmarks (6-pointed star, S, eagle facing right; see McGrew p.56). Length 8". Weight just under 2 troy ounces each. The monogram is lengthwise Taylor. Overall and mark condition are excellent.
An olive-type pattern. Circa 1850's. Thomas J. Megear worked in Philadelphia. Length 7-1/8". Weight 1-1/3 troy ounces each. The monogram is a script MMM. Overall condition is excellent; the mark condition varies from excellent to fair.
Fiddle, sharp fins, elliptical grips (wider than deep). Length 5-3/4". The script monogram at the bow is CF. Overall and mark condition are excellent (good tension).
Downturned handle, fiddle shell, also shell on heel, rounded chamfered fins. Length 6-1/8". Overall and mark condition are excellent. The lengthwise script monogram is JOB.
Coffin end; incised arch drop. Length 4-5/8". The monogram is a block MP in a bright cut reserve. Mark condition is excellent; overall condition is also excellent except that one spoon has a bowl dent. These spoons could be a little earlier than 1805 judging by the block monogram and the small size of the spoons.
Marked PATENT 1847 and A.RUMRILL&Co (of NY) (middle letters of Rumrill not legible). Floral engraved design, piercing. Back edge shaped and upturning. Length 10". Weight 2-1/2 troy ounces. The monogram is a lengthwise script LHA. Overall condition is excellent. Mark condition is fair. Is this Polhemus' Louis XIV pattern? A very nice fish slice.
