$3,150
Item #4089

Height 6-3/4". Weight 9.6 troy oz. Monogram on rim of foot: "Twelfth Congregational Society O S Plympton". Overall condition is excellent and mark condition is very good. The church (really Unitarian) was built in Boston in 1824 and deconsecrated in 1863. Olive S. Plympton married as her second husband Henry Plympton of Boston in 1850. He was a manufacturer of balances (scales) and is listed as a merchant. He died in 1862. The goblet, although made earlier, must have been given to the church between 1850 and 1863. See Buhler, M.F.A. two volumes, for a similar goblet on page 524.
