$5,000
Item #146

Marked twice on the bottom DCF in an ellipse and once N:/YORK. Also a scratch weight of 6 oz 17 dwt. Diameter of rim 6-1/2; diameter of foot 3-3/16"; height 3-1/4". Weight 6 oz 14 dwt. Script engraving on the side: Jas Barton [sic] Latimer/ Philada/ 1818. Overall and mark condition are excellent. We believe this bowl was purchased from Fueter by Thomas Bartow, a wealthy merchant originally from Perth Amboy, NJ. Bartow and Fueter were both Moravians. The inscription on the bowl is that of a grandson of Thomas Bartow; Latimer's mother (a daughter of Thomas Bartow) died in 1817.
