I developed an interest in collecting about 10 years ago. My husband's mother is an avid glass collector and I knew absolutely nothing about antiques or collectibles. It took me another seven years to begin collecting. As my collection of cherishables and junque began to grow, so did my knowledge.
I have always been one to buy brand-new, spending excessive amounts of money. Once I discovered collecting, I rarely go to new stores anymore. I love to go to thrift stores, garage sales, Goodwill and estate sales. I have found nothing more rewarding than buying a dirty piece that no one is interested in, then bringing it home to clean it up. After admiring it, I research.
Never in my life have I ever enjoyed a hobby so much.
My buying is not always a find, but it is always great fun.
