EARLY 1900'S MAGNIFYING GLASS READER
$78.00 INCLUDES FREE SHIPPING
This was a very unique find. I knew this was some type of magnifying glass, but that was all. This type of glass is most difficult to find and one encased like this with felt on the bottom, is RARE indeed. Bought at an estate sale several years ago, it has been a knick-knack in my office. One day, my friend's 91-year-old mom noticed it. She told us that "it was used in schools to help the blind children read". This was probably one of the first examples of "READING GLASSES". It was actually called a "GLASS READER"! Just slide it along the page as you read. It has some damage to the ceramic (piece has broken off). The glass is in perfect condition, other than normal use. Another wonderful slice of history to share. Thanks for looking today!
