Though not as well~known as some of its counterparts, Maryland Glass Company was located in the Cumberland area and was in business from 1918 to 1941. They were mainly a decorating company and produced some truly beautiful designs, such as these water goblets.
Often mistaken for Tiffin's Arcadian, these seem to be commonly referred to as Maryland Glass' "Basket" design. In the case of these particular stems, not only is there an acid etched pattern, but the basket portion of it is wonderfully hand~painted, as shown, making each an individual piece of art. Gold trim adorns the rims of the bowl and the feet and delicate lady leg style stems complete the presentation.
Having an 8~ounce capacity, the goblets are approximately 7 3/8" in height and 3 1/2" in diameter across the rims. All 4 are free of any nicks, chips or cracks and there are only VERY minimal signs of usage to report. Beautiful!
