This stunning piece belonged to my grandmother and I have always admired its outstanding beauty.
I believe that this may be a master berry bowl and would date this piece to around the 1930's. For those of you familiar with Joan Van Patten's markings for Nippon porcelain, this bowl basically bears her #17 backstamp with the exception that it states "Made In Japan" instead of "Nippon", dating the bowl after the Nippon era. (as shown)
Resting upon three "legs" and measuring 7 1/2" at the widest point, 3 1/4" in height, the bowl is in excellent condition. It is free of nicks, chips, cracks and crazing. The colors and hand painted roses are exquisite while minute moriage beading and gold accents complete the presentation. You certainly won't be disappointed!
