I'm not exactly sure how to describe the styling of this unique tea pot. The sharp, crisp lines of the handle and the decorative lion accents give it almost a medieval, or perhaps, Victorian feel. This is the #1877 tea pot which was produced by the Meriden Britannia Company, more commonly, Meriden B. The pot is silverplated hollowware and bears the company hallmark, as shown. The body of the pot has somewhat of a textured feel to it. There is an engravable "plate" area on the one side which remains unused. Resting upon four "paw" feet, lion's head medallions accent the handle, spout and four legs. Dimensions of the pot are approximately 9 3/4" in height to top of lid finial, 10" in length from handle to spout, and 5 3/4" in diameter at the widest point. Overall, I would consider this tea pot to be in very good to excellent condition. It could stand a good polishing, but there are no dents or other visible blemishes. Simply speaking, a beautiful and interesting piece, to say the least. Contact: Sandy
