This gorgeous piece of pink glassware is Lancaster's #378/7 cupped fruit tray. The blank is called Cable and the lovely etch is named Lauren. I have included an excerpt from Mr. John Zastowney's book as follows: "Lauren Etch by Lancaster Glass. Introduced ca. 1927. An obscure etch, Lauren, has been found on only three pieces to date, although it is assumed there are other pieces out there. Part of the etch is similar to Monongahs etched 800 design also known as the Roseland etch. Therefore, it is likely that Monongah had a hand in producing these pieces. Lauren has an Art Deco air to it."
Reference from: John P. Zastowney: Lancaster Glass Co. 1908 - 1937. At the time of printing of Mr. Zastowney's first book, he had not seen this etch on this particular piece. I recently was in contact with the author to confirm identification of the tray, and it is very possible that this exact piece may be pictured in a subsequent book on Lancaster Glass. The cupped fruit tray measures 13 1/2" in diameter, 2" in height at the upturn of the rim and is in excellent condition. It is free of chips, nicks, cracks, discoloration and only a very faint hint of age or usage in a couple of places. It looks stunning with a figural flower frog placed in the "cupped" area.
