Cambridge 12" #3400 4-Footed Bowl, Sun Purple Crystal

This Cambridge Glass #3400/48 12" 4 footed bowl (Console or Centerpiece or Fruit/Flower bowl) is Sun Purple in color. It has minor wear and a tiny flat chip on an edge underneath one of the rays that is not immediately noticeable. Sun Purple is the name for the color of old, vintage clear crystal that has been exposed to the sun for a period of time; its high lead content absorbs the ultraviolet rays and turns the glass a shade of light lavender. Made c 1920s/1930s. We also have this bowl in Forest Green, listed separately. Cambridge paired this bowl with several of its figural flower frogs as a set.
