Wonderful handled mug, made by Wood & Hughes for Carrington & Co., Charleston, South Carolina (c. 1870), 3-3/4" tall, 3-1/8" diameter at rim, 3-3/16" at base, straight sided cylindrical body with applied bands at rim and base, thick cast C-shaped handle, script monogram on front "J.Adgar Smith Aug. 15th 1873.", marked underneath "CARRINGTON & CO" in rectangular punch and "W&H" and "STERLING" incuse, very heavy.
