Very rare three-piece SHEAF OF WHEAT tea set by John Crawford, New York City (c. 1830), Teapot: 10-1/2" tall to top of finial, 13" long from handle to spout; Sugar Bowl: 9-1/4" tall to top of finial, 9-1/2" long from handle to handle; Creamer: 7-3/4" tall to top of handle. The teapot and covered two-handled sugar with basket of flowers finial surrounded by sheafs of wheat on lids, all pieces with bulbous lobed bodies on stepped oval base and applied fruit and foliate banding around base, middle and rims, teapot with unusual and beautiful paneled serpent-form spout, marked "J.CRAWFORD" in rectangular punch under teapot and sugar bowl (creamer unmarked).
