Rare Southern water pitcher by James Reed, Murfreesboro, Tennessee (c. 1832-1850), 9-1/4" to top of handle, 8-3/4" to top of lip, 8-3/4" from spout to handle, 4" circular stepped base to short pedestal with round body with short neck and wide pouring spout, matching applied bands around base and throat, gadrooned bands around lip and top of pedestal, hollow C-shaped handle with split terminals at bottom, peg-shaped thumb grip matches peg-shaped ends on handle, marked underneath "J.REED" in large serrated rectangular punch.
