Coin silver ewer or water pitcher, made by Baldwin Gardiner and retailed by the firm of Dunn & Crutcher, New York City (c.1834-1838), 16-1/8" tall to the top of the handle, 13-3/4" tall to the top of the lip, domed pedistal base to large pear-shaped body to tall neck with wide pouring spout, beautiful heavy cast C-scroll handle, 1/4" wide gadrooning around circular base with engraved leaves, similiar engraved flowers and vines over body with large cartouche on front (no monogram), marked on lip underneath and inside pedistal "B.GARDINER" in serrated rectangle and "D&C" (for Dunn & Crutcher) in rectangle, heavy.
