Jacob Stauffer (1808-1880) - Portrait of Daniel Martin in his highchair, signed and dated May 24th 1830, watercolor on paper, 9x7. Along with being a painter, Jacob Stauffer was a storekeeper, job printer, pharmacist, lawyer, botanist and photographer. From 1839 to 1858 he lived in Richland, now Mount Joy, PA. In 1858 he moved to Lancaster and bacame a librarian of the Lancaster Athenaeum. Provenance: The Garbisch Collection and Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Kern, RI

Benjamin Pickman was Salem's richest citizen and one of the wealthiest in the Colony of Massachusetts. He was an active patriot in the period leading up to the Revolution.
