Richard Brunton, Newell Family record, engraving and ink with watercolor, 8 3/4 x 6 7/8". Upper part is inscribed "Keep Sacred the Memory of Your Ancestors." "Register/of John and Deborahne Newell family/he was born August 16th 1757 and married to/Deborah Webster Feb. 11th 1790. She was born Feb. 13th 1765, and by her he hath the following/ children viz etc" Along the bottom is recorded the dates of death of Mr. Newell as Feb 1836 and Mrs. Newl Feb 16, 13_" According to genealogical sources Doctor John Newell b. 1758 in Ellington, CT m. Deborah Webster, b. Feb 13, 1765 at Hebron, CT. Married Feb 11, 1790, he the son of Nathaniel Newell. Both died at Ellington, she Feb 16, 1830 and he Feb 11, 1836.
