Western Star, by Stephen Vincent Benet, 1st edition, 1942. In 1934 Benet planned a long narrative poem about American pioneers in the West. He had only finished this first volume before he died in 1943. Cloth hardcover with dust jacket, 181 pages, published by Farrar & Rinehart. The dust jacket is very worn, torn and brown, but the book is in remarkably good condition considering it was printed on substandard paper due to wartime restrictions.
