This charger was manufactured by Stonelain Pottery. The historic Associated American Artists Gallery (New York City), under direction of master potters William Soini and Frances Server, produced pottery under the Stonelain label from the early 1940's to 1952. These Arts and Crafts style bookends are in the form of a leaf. They are made of copper and were manufactured by The Smith Craft Company. The Smith Craft Co. was founded in Vermont in 1946. In 1948, the company's name was changed to the Vermont Copper Crafters. Due to a copper shortage, the company ceased trading in 1951. Each bookend stands just over 6" tall. This 4-fluted vase was made by The Rookwood Pottery Company. The Company was operational from 1879-1967. This piece was made in 1950, as indicated by the "L" under the Rookwood mark on the base. It is very unique in both shape and color. The shape is bulbous at the bottom, then sort of pinched at the top to form 4 flutes. The glaze is beautiful.
